On Monday, the Associated Press reported that 104 retired generals and admirals have called for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” These seasoned commanders know what they’re talking about and understand the policy is discriminatory, inconsistent with military readiness and at odds with creating a more competitive and effective fighting force. It’s time for a national movement to pass the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, legislation that would repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” and replace it with a nondiscrimination law.
